Card Sizes
Most Pokémon cards fit standard-sized sleeves, as regular Pokémon cards measure 63 mm (2.5″) wide and 88 mm (3.5″) high. They are about 0.9mm (35PT) thick and weigh about 1.8 grams.
Types of Sleeves
When choosing sleeves for your cards, you want the material of the sleeves to be acid-free and PVC-free (polyvinyl chloride), which are safe for long-term storage and won’t damage the card’s surface. You can pick single sleeves like Ultra PRO Penny Sleeves or a deck sleeve like Dragon Shield Matte. Penny sleeves are your budget-friendly option, quick and easy to put on your cards. Deck sleeves are typically suited for Pokémon TCG (Trading Card Game) players who may want to avoid damage when shuffling their deck and battling against other players. You even have the option of choosing custom art sleeves to show off your personal style.

You can even take it a step further and double-sleeve high-value cards for extra protection. Double-sleeving involves using an inner sleeve (KMC Perfect Fit), which has a tighter fit on the card than a standard sleeve, and then using a standard outer sleeve on the outside. To double-sleeve a card, place the card in the inner sleeve upside down, and then put the card in the outer sleeve to create a protective seal on all sides.
Card Storage
It’s important to remember that sleeving your cards is just the first step in maintaining their quality. You need to make sure that the cards are stored correctly. When using a binder, it is recommended to use binders with side-loading pockets to prevent dust from entering. If you are travelling, you can carry them using a deck box or top loaders for added safety. Additionally, make sure they are stored in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and avoid stacking them on top of each other.
